How to Search for Sold Prices

The sold price search enables you to search through the Land Registry property sale records to find the price a property sold for.

Searching by postcode

You can only search for sold prices by postcode. Full postcodes must be entered with a space. A complete postcode will return results covering a specific area. For example:

  • NW1 - District
  • NW1 4 - Neighbourhood
  • NW1 4T - Area
  • NW1 4TB - Street

Use the first part of a postcode (the outcode) to get sold prices for a wide area, or use a full postcode if you just want sold prices for your part of the street.

Please note

Large streets can be covered by more than one full postcode. If you are expecting more results try entering a less specific postcode and the street may appear twice in the search results.

Refining your search criteria

Just like the property search, the results can be refined after the initial set of results. The extra options available are: property type, tenure, and include new builds. If you wish to change the postcode area you're searching for, start a new search by clicking on the "Sold Prices" tab in the main navigation.

Selecting street(s)

The first results page lists all the streets that have recorded sales. You can click on each street individually to see the details of the properties and the prices they sold for, or you can select multiple streets using the checkboxes next to each street name, then clicking the "View street(s)" button at the bottom of the page.

The Results

The results page shows the details of the sale, which includes the all important price. The results can be sorted by date (which is the default), address, type, tenure, and price. To sort the results click on the relevant heading above the results.

The Graph and Averages

To access the graph and average page use the tab navigation at the top of the streets and results pages.

The graph shows you the property prices for the area you entered, and the national average. The graph plots from when records began in 2000. A breakdown of the data used to compile the graph can be seen beneath the image.

The average data shows you the number of sales, the local average price, and the national average price for the past twelve months.

The Data

The data is supplied by the Land Registry office on a monthly basic, and is covered by copyright. If you notice any problems with the information please contact the Land Registry office. There can be a delay in sold house price information appearing on the site due to reasons outside of our control.

We endeavour to get the new data uploaded as soon as possible after it is released.
